The Alhambra is one of the finest architectural monuments in the world, and as such, visiting it requires a little preparation.

We were in Granada a while ago, as part of a tour in Andalucia. Now, before I continue, you have to know that The Alhambra is my favourite monument ever, so my opinion is biased!
The Alhambra was formed in the 9th century, when Sawwar ben Hamdun had to seek refuge in the Alcazaba, a fortress which is now part of the complex. when the Caliphate of Cordoba had started to fall apart.
The recommended time to visit The Alhambra is 4 hours, and I encourage you to take that much time because it is just lovely to walk around the gardens, sit down for a while, enjoy the views, and repeat.
You must book your tickets in advance on the official website. Availability is limited and it really is worthed to see everything. Be advised; however, that the time slot allocated is for the Palacios Nazaries, so you can arrive as much in advance as you wish, and start seeing other parts of the place.
If you don’t want to book a guided tour, there are headphones that you can rent to do the visit individually. Another option is to check some Youtube videos in advance so you can get a good idea of the Alhambra beforehand.
According to the legend, the Sultan brought to Granada the most beautiful ladies from all over his empire. Some think this is why Andalusian women are so beautiful.
